Seven Vanderpool in Spacesuit

MARTIAN SUMMER

This is an album for those who live outside the box. Pure pop sensibilities combine with 80's style synth to create a futuristic flight of fancy.

This collection of songs is dedicated to the misfits of this world...and beyond.

Many thanks to legendary photographer and creative director Glen Wexler for designing this looping 8 second animated video of the Martian Summer cover!

SEVEN VANDERPOOL

Seven Vanderpool grew up in Satellite Beach, Florida and arrived in Hollywood in early 1994. While exploring the burgeoning underground art and music scenes in Chinatown and downtown LA, Seven met and began writing and recording with Chuck Wild, former keyboard player for New Wave band Missing Persons. During this period, Chuck received a call from his friend, Bruce Swedien, asking if he wanted to come design soundscapes for Michael Jackson.  Bruce, who spent many years engineering such masterpieces as Michael Jackson’s Thriller, soon became involved with Seven’s project as well.

The focus and direction of the music on the Martian Summer project was intended to invoke a sense of retro pop futurism. The overall themes of loneliness, isolation and hope are wrapped like candy in futuristic soundscapes which rely heavily on an 80’s music style synth foundation. This collection was considered an art project and was not deemed to be “commercial enough” by mainstream record labels. Ultimately, these songs sat hidden in limbo for many years, until one day… Seven and Chuck decided to revisit the album and make it available to the public.
